Wearing a bodystocking is about playing with the paradox of a garment that reveals more than it conceals. A piece you should know about before buying.
How do bodystockings work?
The bodystocking appeared in the 1960s with the democratization of stretch nylon, initially as a stage garment before entering the world of lingerie. Its construction relies on a single, highly elastic fabric—fishnet, stretch lace, or a combination of both—that adapts to almost any body type without any uncomfortable visible seams.
Industrial fishnet features meshes ranging from 2 to 8 mm depending on the model, creating a very pronounced net-on-skin effect, while floral lace produces a more romantic finish. The crotchless version allows you to keep the garment on during intercourse; the closed version is designed more for visual staging. Note: 80% of the bodystockings in this catalog are made of polyamide or nylon, a material that can be hand-washed at 30°C.
The different types of bodystockings
- Industrial fishnet: regular large meshes, very graphic effect, ideal for BDSM or burlesque looks, often the most affordable model.
- Floral lace: fine mesh with raised patterns, romantic and visually more covering, can be paired with classic women's lingerie.
- Open crotch: designed to remain worn during intercourse; available in both fishnet and lace depending on the collection.
- Fishnet + pattern combination: opaque panels or rhinestone details that create contrasting zones, halfway between a bodystocking and a classic bodysuit.
How to choose the right bodystocking
- According to size: most models are one-size-fits-all (XS-XL) thanks to the highly stretchy mesh, but check the indicated height if you are over 1.75 m tall.
- According to use: for intercourse, choose an open-crotch model; for a photo shoot or roleplay, a closed model is sufficient.
- According to care: fine mesh loses its shape in the washing machine; always prefer hand washing in cold water to maintain elasticity.
- According to the desired style: fishnet for a BDSM or rock aesthetic, lace for a more sensual and classic register.
- According to transparency: fine lace-type mesh is less revealing than large-mesh fishnet; keep this in mind depending on the context of use.
