The glow-in-the-dark condom literally shines under UV light while providing reliable protection against unwanted pregnancies and STIs. Here is everything you need to know before buying a pack.

The glow-in-the-dark condom: how does it work?

The luminous effect is based on fluorescent pigments incorporated directly into the latex during manufacturing. These pigments absorb ultraviolet rays (wavelength of approximately 365 nm) and re-emit them as visible light—generally a bright green or yellow-white—without any heat or harmful radiation. The pigment layer is ultra-thin and does not alter the thickness of the latex or its mechanical resistance.

In terms of safety, every glow-in-the-dark condom sold in Europe must meet the EN ISO 4074 standard, which notably requires a burst resistance test (a minimum air volume of 16 liters for a standard condom). The brands in this collection, EXS and Pasante, are both CE certified and regularly audited. In other words, visual flair does not come at the expense of reliability. To complete your protection, consider pairing these condoms with a latex-compatible lubricant.

The different types of glow-in-the-dark condoms

  • Discovery pack (x3): ideal for testing the glow effect without committing to a large quantity; perfect for a night out or as a gift.
  • Economy pack (x12): the monthly or travel format, notably offered by Pasante, which reduces the unit cost while ensuring you have enough in stock.
  • Standard natural latex: the vast majority of glow-in-the-dark models remain made of natural latex, offering excellent transmission of sensation and proven resistance.
  • Lubricated version with reservoir: all models in this selection include a reservoir tip and light silicone lubrication for quick and comfortable application.

How to choose the right glow-in-the-dark condom

  • Size: check the nominal diameter (flat width) indicated on the packaging; EXS and Pasante models are around 52–53 mm, which is the most common size. If you need a different fit, check out our selection of condoms.
  • Lubricant compatibility: prefer a water-based or silicone-based lubricant; oil-based lubricants (massage oil, Vaseline) degrade latex and void protection.
  • Light intensity: the effect is significantly more spectacular in total darkness or under black light; plan the atmosphere accordingly to enjoy the visual result.
  • Expiration date: a glow-in-the-dark condom can be stored for a maximum of 5 years in a cool, dry place, away from direct light and sharp objects (keys, pens in a wallet).
  • Allergies: if you have a latex allergy, these models are not suitable; instead, look for polyurethane or polyisoprene alternatives.
